Two exercises

The two exercises and practices that I think benefited me most were the visualization exercise and the loving kindness exercise. I liked the loving kindness exercise mainly because the sounds that they put into the practice. I really like the sounds of nature and being new to meditation I tend to do best with those kinds of sounds while I do it. The visualization exercise is good because it makes you reflect on great times in your life and being in a meditative state makes it a inner connection. These two exercises can help with my mental fitness by practicing both of these exercises on a daily or weekly basis to excel in my mental fitness. By exercising my mental fitness, I will improve in this area where I will have a strong connection with my inner self which is good for everything.

  1. Nick,
I totally agree with you that these are the most beneficial methods we have tried to aid in mental fitness. As we train our minds, techniques like these help foster a more holistic lifestyle. Will you continue these meditation methods after this course is over?

  2. Hey Nick,

We chose the same practices which is pretty cool, I also enjoyed the nature sounds like the ocean waves in the background and found them to really aid in the meditation process. Did you struggle with any of the exercises at all? If so, what made them especially difficult? I know that I had a difficult time with the meeting Aesclepius, I guess because my imagination couldn't conjure up the image of someone who embodied all the qualities it was asking for, but the visualization exercise was different, and you're right that it becomes a very inner connection as opposed to simply being an image that you are objectively expected to draw from.

  3. Good post Nick! I also chose visualization because it has helped me win bicycle races and it even helps me in school. I like that it looks back at positive past experiences also. I also liked the sounds of nature during the loving-kindness exercise, so I could understand why you chose that one. I also need to connect more with my inner self, and I think that subtle mind and meditation can help me greatly in that aspect. Just curious, what is your third favorite practice? Thanks!

  4. Hello Nick,

Visualization exercises are very good, I use this when I have a goal in mind of how far of a distance I want to run. Sometimes in certain situation you have to visual the outcome before you make any actions. I do beleive that everyone chose loving-kindness exercise. Everyone has something that they need to connect with that is withinn themselves. Mediation has helped me, but it is very hard for me to stay focus and my mind clear. Keep up the great work, these pratices are a great choice. Crystal
